Maria Pask

Amsterdam-based artist Maria Pask creates artworks that examine themes of collective creativity, empowerment, and community service. Presented here is the artist’s latest work, which furthers her fascination with the fashion and textile designer Zandra Rhodes. Specifically, Rhodes' bedroom is embellished head-to-toe in her designs.

For her exhibition at Kunstinstituut Melly, Pask sets out to create an ideal space for retreat. Comprising fabrics, flower arrangements, paintings, and a bed linen range all hand-made by the artist, Pask transforms the gallery into a lively and intimate setting where one may reflect on old loves and dream of future relationships. Alongside her creations are a series of tapestry bookmarks and film-star cushions by Paul Wilkinson, an adult who Pask parents.

Different to Rhodes, however, everything on view is for sale. The funds of which will be donated to St. Helena Cuckoo, a Netherlands-based organization run by the artist, providing living assistance to older adults.
